King of Kings, we thank you for your steadfast love endures forever.

In our ups and down your love never fades;

Its strength keeps us going,

Stretching out across history,

When we face testing times in our lives,

Beyond time and space,

Times when everything seems dark and broken,

When society has rejected us, looked down on us and persecuted us,

You rescued us by taking us under your wing and embraced us with love.

In your tender love towards the human race

You sent Your Son our Saviour Jesus Christ,

To take our flesh and to suffer death upon the cross.

Such love, we cannot grasp or comprehend.

We can only marvel at a love so big.

For we know it is not by our might but by your grace.

King of Kings, we thank you for bringing your light into our lives in the midst of darkness and commotion.

King of Kings, we thank you for answering our prayer and becoming our salvation.

O Saviour, forgive us

When we have not welcomed you as we should

We declare that we have not always recognised your presence

Open up our eyes to be more aware of you.

O Saviour, forgive us

When we have doubted you or questioned your will in our life

Grant that we may have true faith in you

We recognise that we have not given you enough praise

Instead, we have being too busy caught up or stuck in our lives

Help direct us, remind us, and strengthen us with your light

O Saviour, forgive us

When we have found it difficult to accept peace and reconciliation when offered to us

Make us a channel of your peace in a broken society.

Where there is division and hatred may your spirit empower us to show your love.

O Saviour, grant that we may not seek to be forgiven by others but to forgive; not to be consoled but to console; to be understood as to understand; for your word teaches us that it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; it is in dying that we are born again to eternal life.

We pray this in your holy name. Amen.
